- Birding is growing in popularity in the US, don’t be left out
- It is fun to do with your family.
- It is an easy hobby to start.
- You will never run out of surprises.
- You learn to appreciate nature first hand
- Birds are couriers of good news or bad news about our environment.
- Kids want to read more to learn about birds. Good motivator.

One sweet lady commented, “You seem to see a lot more birds than I do.” That seemed like an invitation to discuss birds with her. The entirely urban background she described explained her total lack of interest in outdoor activities She could not identify a tulip tree or a predator if her life depended upon it. The educator in me came forward and we continued to share. I doubted it would be worthwhile to reach for my birding binoculars. [...]
