Posted on April 28th, 2009 1 commentDo you remember being told, Go outside and play when you were a kid? Did you ever wonder what to DO? Outside? Not me. Outside was home for me.
I loved to climb my neighbors sycamore tree, ride my bike, play fetch with the dog and there were always lots of kids in the neighborhood to play some game or other. Big kids and little kids played together. It did not matter what school or church or synagogue we went to or NOT. What mattered was that we were all within earshot of someone’s parents and we played in each others yard for different reasons. Read the rest of this entry »

Birding Guide for Birds’ Feet

The previous lesson gave attention to the FEET of Perching Birds.
In this next lesson we look at the Form and Function of Feet of other Birds. We will compare talons, webbed feet, tiny feet and more.
The lesson that follows that will focus on Feeding Form and Function and how the bills of birds are so well suited to the food they eat.
Or is it the other way around. Do they choose their food because that is what their bills can get to the best?
